24hrs to love in the Shire

There's so much more to romance in the Sutherland Shire than the local pub meal and punt on the horses that gets our blokes' hearts racing. To put some love in the air for your favourite person, check out our list of Cupids winning ways to say I love you (or I like you) in the Shire and remember, Valentines Day is just around the corner.

An early start to Love
6.00am: Begin your day watching the sunrise at of the many Cronulla beaches with your special person and take a morning dip at one of the more secluded spots like Blackwoods Beach. Wander along to South Cronulla and local favourite Zimzala for breakfast as you watch the morning swimmers and joggers pass by. If you're feeling energetic take a walk along the Esplanade in the morning light or join a morning yoga class at Heart & Soul to improve your flexibility.

Picnics and pottery:
10.00am: Grab a delicious cheese platter or Greek-inspired spread from Harry & Mario's cafe and take a ferry across the beautiful Gunnamatta Bay to Bundeena for a beachside picnic at Jibbon or Gunyah Beach. Learn how to make pottery at Something at Mary's using the pottery wheel or by hand, and take your handiwork home with you.

Music is the food of love:
2.00pm: In the afternoon set sail on a four hour live music cruise exploring the Port Hacking River including cocktail food, tea and coffee and a fully stocked bar.  or jump on the train to Gymea and enjoy an exhibition at Hazelhurst Gallery followed by a late lunch at the Hazelhurst Cafe.

With advance planning you can book into an adult art class at Hazlehurst and spend a morning or afternoon learning drawing, painting or sculpture techniques together.

Teepee romance
6.00pm: Organise a surprise picnic with My Tribe Teepees at your favourite spot for sunset. My Tribe Teepees will set up a beautiful adult sized teepee, low tables, cushions, rugs and decorations in the park or by the beach. All you need to bring is the chocolate and champagne.

An evening of love
7.30pm: Watch the sun set over the Hacking River at Salmon Haul or Darook Park, and then wander back to your hotel room to change for an evening out  stopping for a pre-dinner drink on the way to your restaurant.

If you feel like staying in, then the Sutherland Shire Cooking School will send a private chef to cook a romantic dinner for you in your own home. Simply pick your menu and enjoy a fabulous private dinner party for two.

For an extra a bit of lovin’ you can enjoy local music together at Music in the Park 2019. It's on from 8 February to 29 March every Friday for eight weeks from 6.00pm at Sutherland Peace Park. You can book a table or take a blanket and grab a spot on the grass. Gourmet food is available from local stalls and you can buy drinks from the on-site bar. It's live, local and free for happy people in love.
