The Hunt for the Sutherland Shire’s Best Easter Treats

We all celebrate Easter in different ways, with many enjoying this holiday by (over) indulging in chocolate eggs or hot cross buns. The Sutherland Shire has some fabulous local businesses that offer fun, exciting and most definitely delicious treats to enjoy at Easter this year. Check out the places listed below and your taste buds will be rejoicing!

Nina’s Chocolates - 27 Gymea Bay Road, Gymea

This small shop on Gymea Bay Road is a chocolate lover’s paradise. You will be overwhelmed by choice as you enter - boxes of assorted chocolates, bunnies, eggs and even dinosaurs! Behind the glass counter, where you can buy individual truffles, pralines and other delicate goodies, Nina’s is bustling with movement as white-clothed pastry chefs prepare for the busy Easter season. You will marvel at the 20 kilogram Easter Eggs and oversized Easter Bunnies perched high on their shelves. All the goodies are hand-made premium Belgium chocolate. Nina’s definitely makes decisions hard but recommend you try the brightly coloured disco bunnies or the fairy eggs for this Easter!

Essenze - Shop 10/360 Kingsway, Caringbah

If you are looking for something a little different to the traditional chocolate eggs and bunnies, Essenze in Caringbah is the place for you! Essenze create fresh, quality handmade chocolates that are quirky and unique. There are fun treats for everyone including Monster Eggs, gorgeous chicks in a crate and even a Mr Potato Head. The locals come in each year to purchase the unique novelty piece that is specially made for that year to share with their families around the table on Easter Sunday. Or you can pick up a mixed box of Easter designs and characters which includes flavours such as Salted Caramel, Passionfruit, Strawberries & Cream, Carameland Caramel Biscuit.

Captain Chocolate - 76 Railway Cres, Jannali

Captain Chocolate is a friendly factory shop located in Jannali. This Easter Captain Chocolate will have his award winning chocolate nibbles in flavours such as salted caramel, lemon myrtle, orange or chilli packaged in half Easter eggs. For the kids, the Captain is preparing popping candy Easter bunnies as well as Easter hunting gift packs. While at the shop, be sure to indulge in a real hot chocolate and enjoy viewing the chocolates being made through the glass windows.

Baked Patisserie - 1/10 Marshall Road, Kirrawee

Hidden away in the backstreets of Kirrawee’s industrial area you will find some fabulous Easter baked goodies. Baked Patisserie is a lively little cafe serving up beautiful tarts, donuts and cronuts alongside Allpress coffee to locals and passing tradies. At Easter there are gooey Cadbury Creme Egg cronuts and hot cross bun donuts with cinnamon cream filling on offer. Or for those who are looking for something a little more traditional there are regular and chocolate chip hot cross buns.

Christopher’s Cake Shop - Level 1, Westfield Miranda, 600 Kingsway, Miranda

Christopher’s Cake Shop is something of a Sydney icon since it opened it’s first store over 50 years ago in Mascot. Today nestled in a corner of the Westfield Miranda Food Hall you can enjoy an array of traditional and contemporary Greek and Italian cakes and baked goods.
