Father’s Day is almost here - it’s on Sunday 2 September for those who need a little reminder - and the Sutherland Shire is ready to celebrate with lots of activities to make Dad feel extra special. Here’s our pick of what’s happening in the Shire:
Make dad a gift
Kids can make a gift for dad at Bunnings Kirrawee and Bunnings Caringbah. They are hosting a Father's Day family night on Thursday 30 August from 6pm to 8pm. Kirrawee has refreshments, a huge rock climbing wall and miniature cars for the kids plus a performance by one of the Shire’s favourite magicians, Joey Presto. At Caringbah kids can make dad a spice rack and decorate cookies, and try out the Playstation and Wii games on the mobile gaming truck.
Bunnings Kirrawee: 127-141 Bath Road, Kirrawee
Bunnings Caringbah: 100 - 104 Parraweena Road, Miranda
A round of golf with a difference
Take Dad to Par 3 Golf and Soccer at Sylvania on Sunday for a round of family golf, or try out the new Soccer Golf craze - a combination of soccer, golf and mini golf. On Father’s Day Dad plays for free!
Par 3 Golf and Soccer: 223B Belgrave Esplanade, Sylvania Waters
Whether your Dad is a 'golfing gun' or an 'enthusiastic beginner' looking to improve his game, Fathers Day is the ideal opportunity to introduce him to the latest sporting craze to hit the Shire Interactive Golf. All Father’s Day bookings at X-Golf Shire include a special gift pack for Dad (stubby cooler, coffee mug and key-ring) plus his favourite beverage on arrival for FREE.
X-Golf Shire: 3/40-42 Meta Street, Caringbah
Dad’s chill out while Mum’s flip out
Flip Out is flipping upside down this Father’s Day with a special offer for Mums to jump free with the kids, so Dad can spend an hour or so chilling on the couch or out and about on Father’s Day.
Flip Out: 12 Parraweena Road, Caringbah
Cheers to Dad
Cronulla RSL has $5 schooners all day for Dad plus barefoot lawn bowls and a raffle to win NRL Grand Final tickets. We don’t know any Dad who wouldn’t be excited by tickets to the biggest game of the year!

On your bike
Perfect for a family outing for kids over 10, the mountain bike trails at Lucas Heights are a great spot to take Dad for a Father’s Day ride. If you’re free on Saturday 1 September check out September Dig Day. You can get your hands dirty helping with trail design, drainage works, repairs and new trail construction. It’s a fun day with lots of awesome people - join in from 7.45am to 12.30pm. Find the gang on Facebook.
