Top 5 Virtual Events

25 May, 2020

We've rounded up the top 5 virtual events happening over the coming weeks in the Sutherland Shire – there is fun for the whole family and the best part is you can join in from anywhere!

1.    The Shire Well Being Festival - 29 - 31 May 2020

The Sutherland Shire’s first ever virtual wellbeing Festival! This is a free 3 day online experience. There is a jam packed schedule of events - start each morning with meditation and yoga, then listen to informative talks on gut health, head over to the ‘Cooking Corner’ for a cooking class, hear from Indigenous elders, health and wellbeing experts, artists, musicians, and celebrities.

2.    Music in the Backyard – every Thursday

Music in the Park moves online with Music in the Backyard. The Sutherland Shire's talented local performers will showcase their work in a premier on the Sutherland Entertainment Centre Facebook page every Thursday from 7pm. Get to know the performers as they talk about their work, themselves, what they are up to and of course perform a few songs for us.

3.    Hazelhurst at Home - ongoing
While we are apart our creative minds can still grow and flourish. Hazelhurst At Home have created a series of lessons and workshops to enjoy. There is Art in the Garden, where you can learn how to make a flower crown or watch a monotype demonstration that you can try at home using watercolour, gouache or oil paints. See a new series of interviews Hazelhurst is conducting with Southern Sydney artists in their homes and for the younger artist – they can create their very own pop up garden, create pressed flower art and more!

4.    Making Meditation Mainstream – daily

Start the day right and experience free group online meditation sessions daily at 6.30am and 8pm @makingmeditationmainstream on Facebook live.  Join leaders from around Australia as they lead you through a basic 20 minute breath meditation practice. Beginners welcome.

5.    Coffee Shots with Sophie B photography Workshop - time booked directly

Sign up for a one-to-one online photography workshop. Learn how to use the ‘Manual’ setting, composition, how to use Adobe Lightroom and design a PhotoBook with Momento. $45 per person for 1 hour ($30 for seniors and students) until the end of June 2020.

We look forward to welcoming you back to the Sutherland Shire and all it has to offer very soon – in the meantime enjoy these specially crafted online events. To see more of what's on in the Sutherland Shire click here.
