The Sutherland Shire is located 25 kilometres south of Sydney’s CBD and is easily accessible by car, rail and bus. Most international and domestic airlines fly into Sydney Airport, from there it’s a short 30 minute drive, making this a convenient destination to visit.
Air
From Sydney airport it is an easy 30-minute drive south, past
Botany Bay.
Rail
From Sydney CBD you can access the Shire by rail from the
Eastern Suburbs and Illawarra lines. Visitors from the south, including Wollongong and Nowra, can travel via the South Coast line.
Road
From the north you can access the Shire via the Princes
Highway over Tom Ugly’s Bridge at Sylvania, Rocky Point Road over Captain Cook Bridge at Taren Point, or on Alfords Point Road at Illawong. From the south you’ll enter via the Princes Highway through Waterfall.
Public Transport

website. Trains operate every 15-30
minutes along the Eastern
Suburbs and Illawarra line. A range of bus services are also available.
